Lara says: The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Manus Pinkwater is one of my favorite stories to read because it encourages freedom of expression, being brave and working through your fears, building community, and enjoying your home! I like to read this book at circle time and then create curriculum around it. I will bring huge cardboard boxes, and supplies such as gift wrapping paper, markers, paint, etc., for the kids to create their own 'house of their dreams'. Best quote and mantra: "My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams."
